STILLS FROM THE ANIMATION

The MAKING OF PICTURES

The Rythmes "Digitale" Music video is a VERY ambitious stop frame / live action animation project, the brainchild of quirky director, Riffy Powerz. Riffy has directed various film projects, but had never directed or made an animation before. Yet on hearing this upbeat, melodic french song she knew her ideas were best manifested within animation- she's a girl who loves her challenges!

Upon researching various technical processes, Riffy directed a team of over 10 people to shoot this quirky music video in the space of one month in a tiny studio in Bermondsey, London. On first glance this project seemed absolutely impossible to achieve on a shoe string budget and with very little resources it seemed MAD to attempt this! But with a fantastic team and Riffy's distinct visions frame by frame enabled them to make this dual world of paper and Digitale Sanguine's world come to life!

After a fast paced month of shooting via greenscreen, stop frame animation and live action set ups, the challenge was now to put everything together in the edit. With the use of FInal cut pro, Photoshop and After effects, the most patient and fantastic VFX editors Janka Troeber and Matthew Thomas worked painstakingly over 6 months to put together all the images shot to make this dual fantasy world evolve in one space.

Here are some images documenting our filmmaking process shot from the viewpoint of the our musician himself: Digitale Sanguine!
